Marriage Seminar in Ukraine
It was exciting to hold a Marriage Enrichment Seminar in Kiev, Ukraine. The seminar was held for the Church of Evangelical Christians with Pastor Vasiliy Daviduik Ivanovich in Kiev. The seminar began Friday the 26 of February through Monday the 28, 2011.
Sometimes it is hard to determine if you are getting through with your message especially when speaking through an interpreter. Here are a couple of evaluations by people who attended and are a part of the church which express the appreciation of the impact of the seminar on their church.
This is what Oleg Roshchipkin had to say:
First I was somewhat skeptical - if I and my wife need to attend the family seminar. We had been to two similar seminars and we thought we already learned enough. But C.S. Lewis once said: "We need reminding more then we need admonition"
To my surprise we learned a lot new things during the seminar. During tea breaks as we talked with our church people we heard a lot of talks and arguments about leadership and responsibilities of the spouses. You see, in our culture men have removed themselves from the leadership role in family and moved it along with the responsibility onto women shoulders, but they are too ashamed to admit it.
During the seminar ladies are recognizing it and are filled with perturbation. The men too were not very glad to learn it. The world is negatively influencing our families and church.
In my opinion our church really needed this seminar. Family is where the church begins; if the family is going through crisis, the church will have even bigger problems. Many things I knew but heard again in the seminar made new sense to me.
I thank God that he moved the heart of our brother from the other side of the globe to travel thousands of miles, to give his time and share his knowledge and experience. May the Lord richly bless his family, his team and his church for their investment in a church on the other end of the Earth.

There is a great vulnerability in a Christian church - the families. One way or another, but almost every person is a part of a family. And the institute of a family is under attack and has been for at least a century. I believe that the greatest weakness for most ministers and Christians in general grows out of their family life or an absence of such. The need is great, but if you ask a regular layperson if they have any marriage problems, they would not admit having any. That is because we all are used to our way of living and are not even aware of how distorted it is, and how much more rewarding it can be. That is why it is so important to keep studying God's Word on the subject of marriage and family, so we can constantly compare our lives to it, no matter how much we already know.
I believe that our church greatly benefited from the seminar. We saw and heard people say, that God used it in their lives, and how they heard things about marriage that they were not aware of before. We tried to cover as many different areas, as we could in order to involve as many church people as we could. We also had people from our sister churches. For every subject that was covered there were people who needed it. I am sure that there was a lot more of unseen fruit than we could see. The seminar stirred up thinking for some people, it woke others up to the areas they need to work on, it was a complete new revelation to several.
We prayed and fasted for God to send his Holy Spirit to this seminar, we felt spiritual warfare, we know it was important!
